Southstar Looking For A Shuttle Driver In Christchurch

Postby Jeff on Mon 19/Jan/09 4:34pm

For Wed and Friday evenings - drive a bunch of happy mountain bikers to the top of Vic Park in Christchurch's Port Hills.
Must have a current Class 2 license with P endorsement.

The bus is a 30 Seater Hino towing a trailer with 30 bike rack.

The job involves selling tickets, driving the bus, and a friendly bit of chit-chat.

Interested? Give Jeff Carter a call on 021619954.

Wilf's health isn't great, so he's stepping back. He's been a great driver and will definitely be missed.

From memory it was not all that hard. I went through a driving instructor to learn how to drive a bus etc. I think it was about 3 or 4 sessions, and that got me the Class 2.

P class is costly, and they do background checks, and you have to pay yearly to keep the license. If it has been over a number of years since you last sat a practical test you will have to do one of those too.

Mostly money, the actual tests etc are not hard to pass.

(My P class license expired a couple of years back now)

It's not overly hard to get, but it's expensive to keep.

Also need to pass a medical each time you renew your licence. Can renew for up to 5 years at a time though.

Cost me about $400 for class 2 and then about $250 to get my p endorsement for 1 year when I did it last year. also it takes somewhere between 4 and 8 weeks for you p endorsement to be processed, and you have to have had a full class 1 before you can get it. Pretty handy things to have though.
