I got Butch the other week, Brent last week, and at Xmas I am going to be put back in my place by Phunk

Are you in CHCH for Xmas or coming up here?

For some reason they put loose caged bearings in the bottom of the headset (1.5") and a sealed cartridge in the top (1 1/8"). My question is will just a sealed cartridge fit in the bottom or do I need a whole new tapered headset to suit sealed cartridge bearings?

new headset as crownrace and lower cup will be formed for a bearing cage to run on it, not an ACB to fit in it

Got some Conti Mountain Kings ... but how do I get them to sit straight in the rims. Every time I change a tyre the sit in the rim all wobbly when I inflate them. :(

tight beads? Often you'll need to WAY overinflate (as in 60-70psi) tight tyres and let them sit overnight to get them to fully seat

HMMMMM ... wouldn't call them "tight" .... I can change the tyres by hand without the need for levers. I will try the over inflate thing though

Sweet!
That worked ... What I did was:
I put about 20 PSI in and rode around on the lawn for a few minutes .... the presure was such that the tyre was flexing but the rim wasn't touching the ground.
Then I inflated to 70 PSI and checked the alignment.
Then let the extra presure out.
Now sitting at 35PSI with tube sitting absolute straight.

Thanks Danose

Do any of you guys know if i can hook up the new xt brake leavers (770) to and older (760) calipers and still use the BH 63 brake lines, or should i just get the 770s as a set? thanks in advance :)

Yes, that will work, providing your calipers are the banjo version

Cool thanks pbr  , so the fitting on the leaver end must be the same and only the caliper end differs between models.

Sweet new brake leavers here i come :)

A Christchurch based company called cycle supplies, any good shop will be able to order their hangers for you
