Tama Continues Riding Up Bloody Steep Hills

Postby Tama on Sat 17/Feb/07 2:09pm

:pmob: I've been getting back into old school riding lately. Riding off somewhere in Wellington, grinding up some steep hills and bombing down the other side.

Today's excursion involved checking out the new Wainuiomata singletrack and the grovelling up to the radio masts up above Seaview. I then decided to brave Summit Road and managed not to get shot by an escaped psychopath, which was good.

Here's a photo from the radio masts.

what the hell is the attraction of riding up hills anyway :ib: Good on you for getting out! I'm inside, marking. I figure the short term pain, is a gain in the long run :)

Tama,

Did you do the jumps coming down Summit Rd, the ones across the big drainage ditches just above the 2nd water storage pool?

They look just a bit too dodgy for a wimp like me on a XC hardtail.

:pmob: I saw the jumps but couldn't see the landing so avoided them like the plague.

I don't really enjoy riding up hills (let's face it, only weirdos like that sort of perversity) but it's a good way to get fit and do more inaccessible downhills :)

Here's one of today's hill - the top of Cannon's Point

:pmob: This is tonight's hill. I have no idea what it's called but the downhill was dreamy

It was a bit of a mission getting back to the car though - it was 9:30 and well dark on our return.

I must admit I'm getting quite attached to the Ruckus it may be a heavy pig on the uphills but it spanks everyone's monkeys on the down
