Best Tv Series Ever...

X-Files - totally ground breaking, didnt pander to un-intelligent viewers, great backplot, got a little lost when Mulder and Scully wanted to leave and do other things. Still watchable today!

Mash, Dr Who, Babylon 5. Mash gets a nod for somehow being both a comedy and comentary on war. Dr Who gets there for being good scifi since forever and Babylon 5 was simply epic.

X-files was too much of a tease with it's epic scale. There came a point where they should have ramped things up a notch and they chose to play it cheap. Lost suffers from the same problem - addictive, entertaining but still not epic.

Heroes though will succeed where X-files and Lost have fallen short - it's fun to watch, on the surface it's simple yet is in fact very intricate and the forshadowing indicates a story the scale of which is rarely seen in a TV show.

We won't get it probably till mid-2007, but it will be huge.

I'll put a vote in for Scrubs, X-Files is pretty good I followed it for a few seasons (anyone remember the season where it went kind of wacky?). Is it still running? I haven't seen it in years

Scrubs: f*cking funny, and JD's narration at the end of each episode also has some good lessons

House: Of all the medical/hospital based shows on TV its good to see one thats factually accurate, and not your standard drama (ie - Greys anatomy and Shortlant st, ER to an extent too)

Nip/Tuck: Surgery and softcore porn - my two favourite things

Boston legal as well, brilliant humour.

Heroes? do tell - what is this? sci fi????

B5 had that same thing as X-Files though, like the one where you see an episode that didnt make sense, until you watched another episode 2 seasons later, and you see that the orignal captain of B5 went back in time to that episode 2 seasons before to help out. awesome! wish i had watched it from start to finish, but in the UK it got put on at all different times and never taken seriously :(

I dont rete Star Trek the NEXT Generation until about season 4 and 5, then it got ok. Hated DS9 and was so so on Voyager - it had good promise, but fell short on scripts and storylines, sick of bloody storys about 1950's tv programs on the holodeck !!!!

ughh

How could i forget ER, quite simply because its utter rubbish since Dr Green died of a brain tumor, that was the last best series it did, all the ones up to that were awesome....

especially the chief nurse that george clooney fancied. yum yum

X-men type premise - ordinary people mutating and developing super-powers. The pilot is one of the best in a while - pretty much lays out quest for the entire season in one episode. Don't want to spoil it, but lets say it's one of the classic comic book stories.

oooo sounds good - and is it errr....available to NZ viewers via a very fast download speed??

a lot of new series now simply are not given the chance to "live", the US is getting ruthless in what it kills and what stays, how these "survivor / reality tv" programs get through i dont know, probably because they are sooo cheap to make, and also they got tons of Product Placement....The Apprentice (both Trump and Martha Stewarts) is just one long advert for the company !!!!!

Babylon 5, X files, Scrubs = best TV?

Hill Street Blues is probably the best series ever, given what it did to the TV drama format, and being a forerunner of serious adult dramas like Sopranos etc.

Yeah did get a bit iffy, although the first episode of season 7"tikka to ride" (where they go back in time to find a curry) is still one of my favorite episodes.
