Haven Mountain Bike Park - Banks Peninsula

Haven Mountain Bike Park is a 60 acre block of land just 30 minutes south of Christchurch nestled in beautiful Banks Peninsula. The McQueens Valley Mountain Bike Club (Inc) has been formed with the intent to build a world class mountain bike park in a restored native forest on this land.

This long-term vision will culminate in the land being available for the people of Canterbury to access intermediate level trails amongst native trees and plants on a historical piece of Banks Peninsula rock.

Currently the club has 34 dedicated members and is looking for more members, trail builders and tree planters to help make this vision happen. Club members come from a diverse range of backgrounds but we are united by the desire to build great mountain bike trails and to give something back to the land and the cycling community.

The club is currently at the stage of clearing scrub to make track lines and we are about to digging the first trails on the land. This is the first of a number of proposed tracks for the mountain bike park.

More along the lines of not-beginner level trails.

Sweet hucks may come laters, au.

Haven Mtb Park will have a dig day on Saturday 17th March from 9am, you are welcome anytime between 9am - 6pm for as long or as short as you like.

We will be working on our first major corner with Nick Singleton, CCC Park Ranger and mtb trail guru as well as benching and berming the chicken run and climbing track.

Also we hope to release the MVMC/Haven Mtb Park Poster very shortly (they are looking very sexy) and Haven MTB Park tees should be available very very soon.

cool...i've had a dig around the website..place looks great! i've had many a latenight slumber thinking how the peninsula is such the perfect mtb region...and needs it's own park! and lo' i stumbled upon this thread while trying to build me some night riding lights.

how many of yusefullas are heading out there on Sunday? I'll try and get out.
