Should have read the vorb site.

Should have listened to nathan.

Don't let the wookie take you for your first (or second) bike ride.

So there I am, top of Makara Peak (sort of) about to go down some dodgy steep bit of single track and the monsoon starts. Big fucking drops of rain (like water balloons really). Thunder and lightening overhead. Track turns into a river. And me on ride #2 - with clip ins for the first time.

"nice easy ride" is a mythical concept in mountain biking.

yeah we all love the fact that Gisborne has such nice weather. It makes you feel all special inside knowing that they would much rather be in a cold, wet and surfless place like Wellington.

I nearly fell off a bridge on my first ride with SPDs - stopped on bridge, unclipped left foot, tried to step off on right. Got foot out of right pedal just before plummeting onto rocks 2 meters below bridge....

In six years of couriering in welly in some ultra crap weather, i have never seen that much water on the roads. Come to think of it you don't see that much water in the lagoon at full tide. Having to drive down hunter st ad then victoria st in the middle of the road cos there was too much water on the sides. And coming past the library and seeing cars parked on side of the road with water part way up the doors was rather comical. You could see the storm drains were struggling a bit, in several places the manholes covers were bubbling up, te hehehehe

Come to Wellington - South Pacific tropical wonderland - complete with monsoon season...

Apparently we're getting 97% humidity and thunderstorms today...

Plus it's great - the land is vertical, so it only floods in Lower Hutt (which is poetic justice, really)

Slackboy was saying there were cars parked outside the Library with water up to their doors...

Meanwhile the Karori Stream happily burst it's banks and flowed unhindered along the Koro Trail...

Didn't they mention something like this in the bible?  :satan:

Being the full on rider I am, I was in town with a couple of girlies in tow. Thought we would stand under cover in Cuba mall till it passed. Went the mall turned into a river they decided it was time to go into a close restaurant, even though I tried to convince them that their white cotton tops really would resist the little rain that was falling  :satan:

White cotton?  Any self respecting pervert should only be out Attitude training in Gladwrap in that weather.

It keeps you nice and dry....
