Nelson Area Visit

Postby VTDave on Sun 5/Feb/06 4:21am

Greetings from the Green Mountains-I'lll be visiting NZ the first week in March and staying in the Nelson area. Looking for advice on bike hire for the week-ideally dual sus trail bike. Thanks in advance for your thoughts-I'll be considering any leads against bringing a bike from home, or buying and bringing, then reselling a bike in NZ.

www.stewartscyclecity.com or finding out something about a place called Small Planet is your best bet for Nelson bicycle hire. There's cool riding in Nelson whatever you're into!

Or you can try Natural High in Nelson. Their website is seakayaknewzealand.com.

I didn't know natural high still rented bikes, those other two shops are good, but I'm not sure if they do rentals

Thanks for the replies. Is Bridge St. also named Torpedo 7 or is it another shop? I'm having some difficulty finding a shop under the Bridge St. name.

9 year dredge!
Yes R&R was taken over by Torpedo7, but any advice given 9 years ago may not still be valid!

Also a recent Nelson riding advice thread: Subject: Need Advise On Nelson Mountain Bike Rides!

Bridge St cycles is no longer. RnR is now torpedo 7. Stewarts is now Bike Barn Nelson. For repairs there is some dude running a small workshop called B-Rad Cycle Service.... he's your best bet for repair/service work :paranoid:

Time warp-that was a post I made on my previous visit to NZ. Coming again early April. Looks like Small Planet or Helibike Nelson are the best bets now?

then try these guys - http://www.helibikenelson.co.nz/content/bike-hire
They can organise tours as well as bikes.

Otherwise in the City there is Torpedo 7 or Bike Barn, in Richmond Avanti Cycles, Bike Barn and Village Cycles
Never heard of Small Planet.....maybe that became one of the other stores that is now history.

Once you have the bike I would recommend B-Rad for servicing!!!! :)
