I'll ask my friend Ian (has just upgraded to the Sti levers, and has 2 spare levers that he might sell)
I could use a RH Shimano brake lever - let me know if he wants to sell.

Major faff with disc brakes too.

Why doesn't anyone make a decent lightweight ss. None of this steel bs. I want carbon!

The Ibis Tranny is the ss bike I'm waiting for - carbon, very light, no need for horizontal dropouts, tensioners, eccentric BBs, etc. It could be very cool (when they eventally release it).

Could I trouble some SSers for some advice??

Deciding on which cranks to run on my XTC. Options are Raceface Deus XC (External BB, ~820g) or Crank Brothers Cobalt SL (ISIS BB, ~850g).

Would it be fair to say the ISIS BB will make the BB area of the frame stiffer than an external BB?

cheers :)

Seconded, Shimano cranks > Race face cranks. Crank bro's could be alright, I dunno how stiff they are though??

*edit* its more like fourthed now, so thats a pretty convincing endorsement for shimano
