Post Your Ride 2018

Postby Kev on Tue 29/May/18 5:16am

I've got a new job, which has a longer commute, so I'm using that as an excuse to upgrade my 25 year old commuter and jump on the latest cycling fad, gravel bikes!

It is fun. Although, it's been a very long time since I last rode a bicycle with drop handlebars so I'm still figuring out the hand positions, particularly on the descents.

Bonus photo, now I've had a chance to get the wheels dirty.

Yeah, it's what I've been wanting for years - reasonably takes the place of trail bike/enduro bike/freeride bike/DH bike. And the price is stupidly good. And it's not infested with SRAM and Rockshox (Except for the code brakes which are their only good product.)

How to become a faster rider. Buy a bike that already knows how to go fast.
Joe Nation's old race bike is now the Shockcraft test bike.

Still got parts to sort out. But 165mm rear and 170mm front. It's fast, stable and the first bike I've ever ridden that carves corners like skis.

Brakes look a bit spongy.

First non-horst suspension bike I've owned. But still better axle path than the last one.
It is concentric rear so the brakes don't cause unnecessary squat.

What brakes? Those don't exist.

I would’ve photoshopped the seat rather than the brakes

You will struggle without 680% range. But then realise that it’s just fine ;)

Looks mean though
