Hydration Pack For Day Trips

Postby globe on Fri 26th Jan 10:46am

I've got a camelbak Mule but find its not quite big enough for a decent mission, works well for a few hours here and there but for a full day where I'm taking food, tools, cameras etc not quite.

What are people using for these situations? I am after one that has a hydration system as I can't rate that feature highly enough for me, cheers

I have the new Camelbak Hawg LR and I'm enjoying it. I use it alongside my Volt LR which is my pick for shorter rides, and I chose it because I've had such a good experience with Camelback in the past. It has 17L of gear capacity as opposed to the mule's 9L, plus 3L of water.

It strops down to be quite compact and still holds gear tightly if it's not full. I can fit a full day of food, winter clothes, emergency gear and a mirrorless camera in it without it being too stuffed.

Couldn’t agree more. I am still rocking a Camelbak HAWG (Holds A lot of Water and Gear) which is 20 years old now - still going strong (I’ve been through a few bladders)

Mine is the original model which is a bit smaller than the new one (probably slightly bigger than a current Mule) but I use it everywhere because it strops down so well.
