EXCELLENT stats!

especially interested in that one, if you ride a bike, half an hour 3 times a week, you can be expected to only need ACC on an injury once every 70 years...
i havent done the math, but that must mean i ride a bike many many hours per day every day of the year, cos it's definitely a lot less than 70, or 35, or 15 years between my ACC required injuries...

You can prove anything with stats! It's not clear if they were only looking at road commuters, or road recreation, or off road, or all cycling including track, BMX etc. I'm sure some stats would prove ACC on certain roads is more like 1 year and other 500+ years.
Anyway its an article that might encourage a few to try commuting or short trips and that can only be a good thing.

It's Bull Sh*t; how many rugby players died last year ? 500 x 5 ?

Or maybe none.

The stats (rightly or wrongly) where based on ACC claim numbers, can dead people make ACC claims?

the accident would be registered with ACC as there are things the bereaved may be able to claim, such as support and funeral expenses.

Metro glass truck .
The driver probably forgot he had that stupid rack on the side to carry glass sheets.
Just my 2 cent guess as I always thought those thimgs should have been banned years ago

Plus the driver set out at 3am, collided with the cyclists in the dark at 6.30am. Not good for anyone. I do a few early morning drives and it's not easy.
