What's Good In Saddle's Currently.

Postby dwgknz on Tue 20/Sep/16 10:57am

The Giant contact saddle that came with my bike is absolutely rubbish. I'm pretty sure it bends beneath me.

I like the saddle on my hardtail (Selle Italia SLR XC Flow) but it's no longer made and only available in white.

Anyone tried the Selle Italia SLR x-cross flows or have any other XC saddle suggestions that suit sitting forward on the saddle and a generally mid weight rider (75kegs)?

Obvious answer - it depends on your bum.

Other obvious answer, buy what I like. Charge Spoon. Cheap, and it suits me. I have one on my 29er and one on my CX bike.

The trusty WTB is always a winner.

It really does depend on your bum though.

Charge spoon and phenom 143. I prefer the phenom because its got a better cut out, even though its firmer.

The $34 bargain bin special Synchros something or other from my LBS I picked up this week for my hardtail MTB its friggen awesomely comfortable .... well compared with my previous saddle thats been a bit (o.k ... a lot) wonky since I landed a fair drop the other week with only one foot on the pedals ( amazingly missed the family jewels and somehow managed to not crash ) I have been on the hunt for a replacement since I straightened it out a bit that night in a vice with a crow bar so I didn't have to miss out on any muddy fun .
Unlike Dwgknz's Giant Saddle my Merida saddle didn't feel like it was at all bendy ,that is until it totally collapsed when I abused it (heavily)

The new saddle is nice and straight (for now),doesn't make annoying creaking noises when I ride and it doesn't have a big lump in the middle where the saddle clamp and rails smashed in the plastic base of the saddle .... best of all it color matches the bike way better than the shitty Merida one that I hadn't gotten around to changing .

I have the stock (cheap) Specialized Henge on mine. Completely unnoticeable. Unlike the devil seat on my commuter which I shall check shortly for the brand and model so no one else can be subjected to it.
