Recommend Me A Road Bike Pump!

Postby foremannz on Wed 17/Feb/16 6:14pm

I've always taken the hotrod approach to pumps (bigger is better), but it seems the slimmer pumps are better for pressure - thoughts? One consession is it must have a side mount bracket - I have a Topeak Road Morph at present, but its pretty large and you can only get a centre mount bracket.

I'm looking at one of these, just because they are easy to acquire, a Zero Airdriver Ii Expert Road:

My other preference would be a Topeak Race Rocket HPX:

I checked Lezyne, but I don't like the mounting brackets.

I have a HPX (well 2 actually), I real like it :) and it fits inside the seat post on my commuter which means I don't have to worry as much about it getting pilfered :)

the only thing that would make it better is to have a pressure gauge

I have some Topeak Micros and fit them on the back of my seatpost for the aero look :sly:

They don't have great capacity but they do pump to a high pressure eventually and as I've set up my bikes to not have punctures I don't begrudge the hard work at the few times I need them :)

Topeak pocket rocket. Side mounts nicely above the front mech and gets to a good pressure with a moderate amount of work.
