For those not familiar with this event, the Santa Cruz Coppermine is in it's ninth year. The race weaves through some of Nelson's best back country trails and traverses the spectacular Coppermine Mineral Belt and Dun Mountain. There are two courses to cater for different riding abilities.

This year Santa Cruz have put up a 2016 Bronson C featuring the 'R' finishing kit as the major spot prize worth over $6,000, plus there are plenty of other goodies up for grabs. There is $3,000 in cash performance prizes - more than any other year!

For the North Islanders, Bluebridge are offering a 50% discount on ferry crossings for participants, their supporters and their cars. Just quote the code sent to you in your entry confirmation when booking your ferry ticket.

I tried to find it on the website but you have fill out 20 fields of info before it will tell you!

Would rather have an affordable entry fee than all the fancy prizes

As soon as I saw your name against this thread on mini Vorb I knew that there must've been a clash with some other event

it would seem it's pretty unsual not to these days as everybody want to run their event in same 12 weeks of the year ?

Since it's now being run by the MTB club, has the entry price dropped at all?

We hear you about fancy prizes and lower fees, but the prizes have all be put up by our awesome sponsors. The cost is in the overheads I'm afraid given the exposure of the riders in the back country. However, if there is any money left over after the event, it will be put back into building more trails in the NMTBC region - which is good for everyone!

Hey that's fair enough, if it's all in overheads with profits going back to NMTBC then that's fine by me
Btw that link still wouldn't show me the price without filling in the whole form, it's $80, or $70 for club members, which I think is a bit less than it used to be.

The price seems reasonable and it also includes a burger and a beer plus it's a lot cheaper than a popular one in Central Otago. This race is on my bucket list, it looks more challenging than most of the farm track type of races I've done in the past.
