This is quite cool, although I'd love to see a cutaway of it all working.

These have been around for a while - at least as vaporware. There are rumors they have been developed for covert installation in race bikes - 250 watts is obvious from the noise and speed of the ride, but a smaller output providing an extra 50Watts or so over a tour would easily be the difference between first and last. Search for "Seat Tube Motor" on google. Motor slides down the seat tube and has a worm drive to custom bottom bracket. The high end ones have the battery in the seat post so nothing is visible and don't kick in unless the cyclist is providing power through the pedals (The above demo would look just like a real bike)
