Talkback Tuesday: Vorb What To Develop Next?

Postby Rik on Tue 14/Jul/15 8:36am

So Vorb has been in quite a nostalgic mood of late, which got me thinking about what we have lost from vorb and what new stuff would be cool.
I can't talk for the rest of the team, but with all this cold weather freezing me in. I for one am itching to get stuck into some coding to make vorb more awesomer.

The question is what next? What feature do people miss from old vorb? OR would like to see in a new vorb?

How about this lot for starters:
Bring back the weather
Bring back trails statuses
More social media integration Instagram,Twitter, Facebook, blah blah
A mobile app.
More GPS functionality.

My list goes on and on and on. But I'd like to hear what you think.

I guess eventually we'll end up with a list of stuff that we can all vote on or get a panel of three judges to mock the inner tubes out of talentless ones.

A couple I was thinking of
1) modernise the event calendar so it is a bit more graphical
2) Display gps tracks so riders can post their ride routes without having to share with strava and worry about all that KoM drama. Perhaps also pin photos to the trail

Hey guys, I know this is a talk between 'the three' right now. but hey, here goes

SIMPLICITY

I think we devolve it to something very basic before we start tacking bits on again.

If we could utilize some google API to utilise the calendar and map functions so people could import them onto the phone it'd be cool too. :)

Agree!

Things like track status and trail gps, maps, etc have been done well firstly by tracks.org.nz, but now appears to be superseded by trailforks.com. Recreating these would be a lot of work and I doubt would be used as there are already alternatives. In the future, if there was a way to integrate trailforks, and there appear to be some ways to do this (even though it's part of Pinkbike), that may add value to peoples track discussions.

Absolutely agree, I really struggle to find my way around here as a newbie.
