If The Shoe Fits

Postby Mansalmon on Mon 11/May/15 2:29pm

Hi All

Due to an over-enthusiastic Labrador puppy, I am in the market for new road shoes. Have currently got some Bontrager RL's, and am wondering whether anyone has any insights as to how the fit of Bontrager's compare with other brands on the market? My LBS has a few options, but wondering if there could be more to life than Bontrager and Pearl Izumi?

Cheers, Jason

Whatever is comfortable, in your price range, and is not produced by Specialized.

Do you possess the svelte feet of a ballerina? Or do you have big gorilla stompers?

I like to think of them as relatively normal - albeit size 47 normal.

I'm a big fan of shimanos, the have a nice roomy toe-box to wiggle my toes around in.

Awesome thanks, thinking I need to track down and try on some R171's.

No idea how to add those... On a side note, do we think a dog with a stronger jaw (some kind of terrier) would be able to get through the Carbon? :eh:

I'm quite keen to try some Bont Riot mtb shoes - two hundy for a crabon shoe you can heat mould repeatedly in your oven...... Sounds interesting.

I can highly recommend Northwaves if you are wide of foot.

And here was me thinking that you just needed new roadie shoes so that you could take over-enthusiastic Labrador puppy on longer rides!

Fizik. Fit quite different to anything else I've tried though, very high arch and deep heel. Nice and wide in the toes.

Way better support than my Northwave's though.
