What's The Slackest Most Travel 650b Hardtail Out Ther?

Postby properzel on Thu 7/May/15 11:47am

Sick of too much travel in the rear- wanting to shift all my existing gear to a hardtail, what are my options?

Got a BOS deville with 170mm travel in the front which seems too much for all the fun 27.5 inch HT out there.. The Stanton switchback looked sort of the closest as it gets, will my fork work in this frame?.. and all my SRAM X01 gear?..

I'm fairly downhill oriented so would love to keep a capable front end if that makes sense!?

Please inspire me!

The cotic BFe has a 160mm max.

I've always wanted a Soul though but much smaller travel.

Slackest ....... BTR Belter, czech the stats below. That's with a 160mm fork, but there are photos around with trippalz.
Surely they could make it 650bees for you

There is also the Ranger which is a bit less xtreme

Stanton Switchback looks good.
Not the slackest ever, but sensibly so...

You could always modify something slightly, I have a 160mm Lyrik in my DMR Trailstar, with a Works Components 1* headset to slack it out a bit.
The Trailstar is way too steep for your description, but the works headsets come in flavours to fit most frames, and do the business.

Yup, I'd move the old capra on if I'd find a frame that doesn't need to much extra parts thrown at it.. like BB, headset, etc

shame they dont make the soul 275 for a bit bigger fork without all the burl of the bfe... my bfe put me off hardtails especially once i'd moved to the 5spot. the 26 soul was plush, but the bfe i found punishing. maybe they should do something with most of the Bfe front end, but with the soul rear end... that would be a minter.

that privee is reminiscent of the old Evil Sovereigns... that was a dream bike for many a year.
