Is there such a thing as clear powdercoat? Clearcoated frames normally rust pretty quick from what I've seen.

Yeah I'm pretty sure powdertech in chch can do a clear powdercoat

I have done it, basically I wouldn't bother again.

Mine got wet sprayed with clear 2 pot lacquer, after 2 weeks this started happening;

The business I have now clear powdercoats stuff, stainless steel is ok but cromoly will do the same thing as in the pic.

Cromoly rusts a lot slower than gumboot steel so start with a decent frame if you are going to do it.

And FFS don't cut off the derailleur hanger or I'll send over a bunch of midget classic bike ninjas to fuck you up.

yep covert is 6061 Heat Treated Custom Hyrdoformed Aluminum im going to give chch powdercoaters a ring tomorrow . Was thinking it should be sweet as transition do a few frames in raw , only downside is im assuming it will void my warranty

Dont bother with laquering it, get it anodized in a neutral silver, it has a much better life expectancy and it doesn't chip as easy

Canterbury metal finishers do it in chch, have worked with stuff done by them and would get my own stuff done by them

Best of both worlds :thumbsup:

However if you want to proceed with clear coat, I use Christchurch powdercoaters, they do a good job
