Go By Bike Day is a one-day event in February every year where thousands of Kiwis ditch their cars or trains and buses - and cycle to work or school.

Please remember to leave your car keys at home.

To see and event near you go here, there will be lots of free breakfasts all over the country.

Turned up at this mornings free breakfast in Hagley Park. Mmm yummy. Lots of people/bikes.

Loved the idea of having a truck there so you could jump into the cab to experience just how sweet FA the drivers can see.

Except in Lower Hutt, which for some obscure reason is having it a week later. :eh:

This makes me sad :( because there where TENs of people at the Christchurch one. Hundreds of people would have made it awesome.

Well done Welly cyclists

I rode into the Welly one, but I passed a few people going the other way early in the morning. I wondered if they had juice, coffee and bagels to look forward to. Apparently not.

Kapiti one was offering cooked and continental breakfast at the Police station.

I caught the train and had a muesli bar and ride up the Tip Track instead.
