Tires For Linus Dutchy...

Postby swtchbckr on Wed 28/Jan/15 8:36pm

swmbo's Linus tires are getting a bit tired, bit of perishing on the sides, and rather bald rear, so, I be lookin' around for some newbies...

The numbers are: 35-622 which is fine, 35mm wide, etc... but then there's 700 x 35C - 28 x 1 5/8 x 1 3/8

Question to youse, will a 40-622 be too fat? is there trouble afoot not matching the 1 and 5/8ths x 1 and 3/8ths?

In which case will this work(Continental Classic Ride Puncture ProTection Wire Bead Tire 28x1 3/8 x 1 5/8 Inch)?
or this one(Schwalbe Little Big Ben Active Wired Tire 28" 40-622)?
or this one(Schwalbe Spicer Active Wired Tire 28" 40-622)?

Thanks in advance... i hope.

If you have more than 2.5mm of clearance on either side of the tyre right now then a 40-622 should be sweet :)

should do...

so, the 1 and 5/8ths x 1 and 3/8ths isn't an issue? all's i need to worry about is the 622, and clearance.

1 5/8's and 1 3/8 is another way of saying the width, some euro brands like conti and schwalbe put it on their tyres, a 28 x 1 5/8 is a 622x42 and a 28 x 1 3/8 is a 622x35, which could also be called a 700x42C and a 700x35C respectively.....

Sheldon Brown has a great article explaining all the tyre naming conventions on his site
