It disturbs me that there are still people prepared to vote National after all the recent revelations. Even if one agrees with their policies, surely one can't share the values of the current National leadership? If I was a National supporter I'd be abstaining or giving my vote to a party slightly to the left or right of National, as a protest and a sign that they need to replace the current leadership.

That is assuming that any other party in power acts differently. Nat supporters may have bought the line "everyone else does it"and "best of a bad bunch"and "left beat up".

To give this a bit of context, Plato wanted to replace Athenian democracy with meritocracy (with people like him becoming the rulers) and is often suspected of being a protofascist.
