Not personally, but there are companies around who can find and assist with the import process. Any reason why you are looking to self import? - you looking at something special interest? or just can't find what you want here??

Cutting out the middle man... But just trying to weigh up whether the savings made will be off set by the annoyance factor...

There are web sites set up to allow direct importing from Japan by Joe Public, or more commonly by low-volume backyard sales folk . I never did it.

Have had a friend who bought an old Nissan C10 Skyline from Japan using these guys in Aussie, he paid a $250 for an inspection. They have been around for over 10 years and are quite professional. http://www.j-spec.com.au/
Plus it allows you to peruse the dealers in Japan in english

Unless its something specific you want it isn't worth the hassle :hmmm:

I've looked into it with help from a friend who's a car dealer who imports from Japan a few times a year.

The upside of buying from your LCD is you get to pretend you are driving a car that actually has 87000km and hasn't been banged up.

A car dealer told farty that people shouldn't import their own cars. Sounds legit.
