Thames Mountain Bike Club

Postby Mike Cook on Sat 15/Jun/13 8:44pm

After quite a few years of chipping away by hand at our mountain bike trails in Thames, DoC has kindly offered to provide an excavator & driver for a week or two to progress the trails further. Hopefully work will start Monday week. Really looking forward to it. Updates on Facebook. http://www.facebook.com/Thamesmtbclub :)

Hi, yes Rick from our club put in that submission. One was the Puranui track from the top of the Kopu Hikuai Road down into the Kauaeranga Valley & the other one was the Crosbies Hut track. Both would be awesome.

As most people on this site probably know,it's surprising how long it takes to get the best line possible for any given terrain. We've spent the last two days finalising the best lines before the excavator turns up in a week. We thought we'd be finalising our second loop yesterday & today, but I guess it's better to spend a little longer in the preparation rather than be disappointed later. Good things take time :)
