Replacement Wheel Advice

Postby Buff.K on Wed 27/Mar/13 7:48am

Hello there.
I have a Bergamont Dolce road bike with Mavic Aksium Race wheels. Sadly I knocked my pump into the back wheel recently, and rather than break a spoke the spoke has been ripped out of the hub forcing a hole that repair stores say cannot be replaced.

Which means a new wheelset.

Really, I only ride every couple of weekends (plus work everyday) as I mostly do mountain biking at the moment. But I want a wheel set of a similar quality, certainly not anything worse. Does anyone have any opinions on these three? The first is the same make and model wheel I believe, which was recently down from $380 to $300 but I missed out.

Thanks.

PBK (pro bike kit) have single wheels that are the same as your one.
Just buy a replacement back wheel

Just wait until T7 special it again. You most probably will not have to wait for long.

Just get a custom built wheel with hub of your choice onto a movie open pro with dt comp spokes and you'll be set. Way better than some aksium or cheap fulcrum bollox

There's nothing wrong with Aksiums

Not at all, I've given some death before on a commuter bike and they held up, but handbuilt with a decent spoke count is always gonna be better...

I agree with you.

I just replaced the wheelset on my singlespeed. The Shimano RX100 hub was rough and had to be sanded out etc last year so when it packed up big time the other week I got a new pair.

I'd only had the originals for 17 years
