South Island Touring

Postby blue79turtle on Tue 16/Oct/12 7:59pm

Hi, I'm going on a trip. I finish work around the 8th of december and will climb on the bike a day or so later, starting from Cambridge. Got no plans, will go where the day takes me but heading straight for the South Island. I'm taking the mountainbike, minimal weight, tarpaulin/sleeping bag, some cooking equipment, credit card, no phone, and a set of balls. This has been a lifelong dream, and i'm more than happy to do it solo, but completely open to riding sections of the country with respectful, interesting people, who are not afraid of adventure. Just get in touch with any recommendations, advice or offers of hospitality/company along the way. The new NZ cycle trail network is going to take a beating! Kind regards, Pete

This comes out in a couple of weeks - perfect for a bit of fat tire touring!

Keep me updated when in the Blenheim area. If home at the time, theres a chance of a bed for the night....

The peddlers paradise book was pretty good when I used it in 2003 - I think he's put out a couple of newer editions since then
