The Shortest Day 2012

Postby RugbySucks on Tue 5/Jun/12 8:13am

What to do on this most auspicious day ??

Charge up the NIte Lights, and usher in the better half of the year.

Summer rides, long days in Short sleeves, and Single track that doesn't jump up into your eyes and mouth .

Last year a very nice lady put on an Orongorongo longest night ride. Was Brilliant!

Will have to organise something in Wgtn area if it's not on again. Suggestions?

Could always do a huge lap, starting from Wainui Trail Park, up across the hill tops to Avro Rd in Blue Mountains, then down to the River Trail via Silverstream to Dry Creek, then up and across to Belmont Regional Park, thru to the Trig then out to Cornish Street, Petone.

Guarantee that would root most of the riders I know, apart from "Dr. Fuentes" and some of the Bushlove madmen.

We went on a similar ride on Easter Weekend from the Hutt.

Rode from Lower Hutt to Upper Hutt to pick up a rider, then on to the bottom of the Rimutaka's, out to the Camp, then up to the top of the Pylon Track (800 m), then the fast down hill to the Twin bridges on the Featherston side of the Rimutaka's.
Quick bottle fill in Featherston, then off around Lake Wairarapa to Cross Creek, on Western Lake Road.

Then back across to Kaitoke via the Incline Track.

When we got back to Lower Hutt we had 101 km's on the clock, 7 hours ( puncture stop )

That was a solid ride.

I'm going in the BNZ mad mid winter enduro down in Invercargill.

Did it as a team a couple of years ago, got dead last and vowed never to go back, so this year my teammate and I are both doing it solo (only the 4 hour soft boys option this year)
