Trek 8i Wireless

Postby Shunway on Wed 23/Nov/11 2:38pm

Hope someone out there might be able to help me out

I bought a Trek 8i wireless computer a few months back from an online store and when I opened it up it came without a mount. The place subsequently replied to my email saying they no longer stocked the brand and offered me a Cateye as a replacement. I accepted but am now stuck with an 8i that has everything but the mount. Seems like an utter waste so wonder if anyone out there has an old one or can put me in contact with someone who can help

I contacted Trek directly in the US and they don't post outside the USA so hope someone can help us out.

If so, my email is flashgordon_79@yahoo.com.au if you can either reply here or get in contact there I would appreciate it

The cateye will not be a lot of use once the battery is flat as the plastic material the cases are made of is such **** that when you try to open them up just shreds and the thing is useless.
Still I suppose you get what you pay for, but once bitten...................

I have owned Cateye speedos for years, never had dramas changing batteries, and have never heard of this plastic shreding that occurs whilst changing batteries, Maybe Brians opening the battery case with an Axe?

is that not how you do it ?

Go to your local LBS dont tell em you brought it online but say you want another mount for another bike or you have missed place it or something and get them to ask the trek importers if they can supply a mounting kit for it

oh and next time just go to your LBS straight up

Im interested to see everyone's personal opinion on the Cateye brand....... considering I only got it as a replacement. Any more ideas for the Trek mount?
