Way back in the day, Simon Kennett used to run the Wellington Short Course XC Champs along this course. It has changed little over the years, save for a great new piece of single track near the bottom built, coincidentally, with Kennett initiative.
No, it's not the most glorious single track meal in Wellington. Yes, the climb is fairly miserable. Of course, there will be some sort of weirdo task to complete at the 1/2 way point. Naturally, there will be a single speed category. But more importantly, it is a hark back to the good old days.
It's a week out from the Huka XL, so a good chance to sharpen the shanks with a nice short effort. It may even be fun?
