Oh, yeah! If it's half as much fun, it'll still be a good day out this year.

shame it's not in the next few days. Could amend the rules slightly to have photo of rider + snowman at each summit :D

This was epic. Highly recommended. Can I suggest clarity on a few rules to make it "fair" and to protect the future of the event. I strong suggest official WCC walking only tracks are banned from course options. I say this because even if riders truly do walk (many will sneak a ride), it doesn't create a great look for the public out walking on designated walking tracks. There are heaps of bike tracks and roads, so why use walking tracks? Just a suggestion for you Asher.

This or Round the Mountain- humm - hope to make it.

The sneaky ones could 'pre-cook' photos in the days before too. I suggest drawing something on the rider's face and forehead :p

Or kidnapper style, photo has to include the front page of the Dom of the day.

I'm guessing you're refering to Mt Kaukau - that was the one place where there seemed to be some unhappy walkers from the Khandallah Track, and you'd have lost 3 or 4 minutes by going up Sirsi Ave in stead.

Some clear signage at the bottom of Khandallah Track would sort this, since most riders did seem to respect a literal interpretation of the rule ('Don't ride on tracks signed as 'No Biking''). There was a rumour somebody raced down the Khandallah Track (on a fine Sunday morning, no less). That may have been a one-off, oxygen-debt induced faux pas.

Love the format! and I will recreate a SoCal version on the day of the Welly event....due to urban/human sprawl it may take more than 6 hours to hit all the "local" notable MTB climbs here.

This event will survive as long as there are adventurous folks like ourselves to have a go at it. I do agree - if it is a hiking only trail - keep the hikers happy by just doing an alternate route avoiding the restricted trails all together.
