Well unfortunately due to the rather strong winds of the last few days, the trails have taken a fair hammering, so we have made the decision to close Wairakei for a few days, until we've had a chance to get in and clear up the damage. There are still trees coming down now so it's not really in anyone's best interest to be in there riding.
Also the Rotary Ride is Closed.. and pretty much impassable (we did try) . So if your in the area , the best bet for MTB would probably be the Whakipo 2 Kinloch track (W2K) , Kawakawa Bay track or Aratiatia.. [/hr]

Update : 1st May
Trails in Wairakei are now reopened... Thanks to those who showed up the the working bee today, approximately 30 trees were cleared. The regular track crew will be clearing the remaining trails over the next few weeks so take care in there. Rotary Ride will remain closed for approximately 8 weeks- many large trees down and 1 bridge has been destroyed.
