Sainsbury Rd Mtb Trails Open Day Sunday 8th May

The Waipa Mountain Bike club (WAMOs)are having an Open Day to display the first of their new off-road Mt Pirongia trails to the public. Come along on Sunday 8th May between 9am and 1pm. There will be a sausage sizzle and real live WAMOs to guide you to the new trails. It is a non-competitive social day of exploration in a magical environment at the top of Sainsbury Road on the eastern slopes of the mountain, just across the river from Pirongia Village. We have a new little wiggly-windy kids trail for the littlies to try out and an awesome downhill XC trail in the bush for the intermediate riders (and above) among us. We have also built a parking area for your convenience. Bring the family and a picnic and make a day of it.

I had a look up there tonight.You guys have done a great job.I remeber when i first started running up there 12 years ago it was rough as guts,then they milled it so it was good for a while,then the gorse grew and became impassable.Well done.How many do you get for your Thursday night rides?
