Action Cams.

Does anyone know where I could get an Action cam from plse. It needs to be able to be strapped to my MTB helmet or the bars, does not necessarily need to be waterproof but would be a bonus.

Ive seen one at Noel lemmings or something but not keen on the $600 out lay and don't need 720p, even VGA would suffice. Anyone know of any more reasonably priced ones plse plse??

+ another 1 for GoPro. Excellent bundles of attachments. I also got another underwater housing for the GoPro from Sartek, which gets rid of the crappy underwater focus issue.

See if you can track down a VholdR - it's the old standard definition version of the ContourHD. (same housing, different guts)
I've got one, it does everything I need. Sure the footage doesn't look as sharp as what comes out of the new hi-def cameras (ContourHD and GoPro), but sounds like you don't want something super fruity.

Unsure if they're still available new though? You may find someone looking at doing an upgrade to HD and wanting to flick off their older camera though.

Surely you've compressed the buggery out of that before upload?
Or is it a setting at my end thats cutting it back to only 240p?

My brother gave me a Contour HD 1080p cam for my Birthday, I couldnt be more happy with it. Very nice surprise.

I like the way I can strap it to the side of my helmet so its a bit more sleek and less obvious that the GO Pro, I reckon the GO Pro looks more susceptiable to being hit by overhead branches etc.

The Coutour HD does have an annoyance that the battery cover often gets dislodged when you switch the unit on and off, but you get used to it and adjust.

I think video quality wise probably very similar.
