Over our way it's usually the Sprinters who are carrying out the assaults.

It's a bugger that low lifes want to go around knicking stuff, but a double bugger when they're violent in the process.

I don't suppose they have any CCTV? A good camera is worth every cent these days.

I'd like to see the offenders caught, and the punishment be that they are driven around the velodrome at 45km/h wearing nothing but lycra, and then thrown out onto the track.

This is terrible :( The scum are breaking into someone’s car, that person tries to stop them and instead of running away with their tail between their legs they attack the car owner.

Bring on the West Auckland Velodrome I say then I can ride down to watch the racing :)

Unfortunate, but not surprising. The velodrome is not exactly located in one of the more affluent areas of the city. I lived in Papakura where it was normal to wake up and find the vacant house in the street had had its copper spouting nicked during the night, and where we used to keep a running tally of how many times the two dairies around the corner had been held up.

The sooner a decision is made on a new location for a Velodrome, the better!

See above West Aucks :)

Like most suburbs there are good and bad bits of Papakura.
I’ve worked at an Intermediate school there on and off for the last 8/9 years. I wrote to them last year and said I was never coming back… :hmmm:

My wife worked at a medical centre in Rosehill (Papakura) and even after working in the Third World (she worked with squatter communities in Peru for 11 years) she still found the families etc an eye opener

Like it is going to be any better in that particular part of West Auckland . . . . :p

Build it in a real nice place like Hastings / Napier . . . . . .

The sad thing is though, James is a uni student, doing a sports science degree, and probably most of his data was on the computer, we are all thinking up here do we now have to lock our selves in side the track to train, Sam, Ethan, and Justin are all a bit shaken by the whole event. Its a sad reflection of society, the lap top was probably only to provide the next fix :-(
We have security on the gate for Friday night racing, how far does one need to go to be safe in a sports ground/velodrome
