Hi everyone,
Just a few tidbits on the upcoming Tarawera Ultra. The event website is here:
http://www.taraweraultra.co.nz/
Entries are waay stronger this year than last - the field should be at least 250 on race day (up from 180 in 2010). The most popular distance is the 100k. Right now entries stand from 8 countries, with the biggest-name entrant being Hiroki Ishikawa from Japan.
There will be heaps more social stuff around the race with a sweet fun-run on Thursday evening, some barefoot running seminars and a big brunch on Sunday after the race.
As ever, the sponsors have been super generous so you may get lucky and receive some INOV-8 shoes, or tons of other neat stuff from Rotorua. All solo entrants get an NZO shirt and Injinji socks.
Same course as last year. Heaps more volunteers, same legendary aid stations.
If you have not done an ultra before – sign up and give it a go – or enter in a relay to get a feel for the day. One thing is for sure - the Tarawera Ultra is a day you’ll not forget in hurry.
Any questions, just email me – or post on here.
Cheers,
Paul Charteris
