Why Is My Isight Back To Front?

Can anybody tell me why my webcam picture is a mirror image of what it should be? This is Ok, but it happens when I Skype - so I am always speaking to someone who is a mirror image. It looks like it should be easy to fix but I can't find a way to turn the image around. Annoyingly it occasionally turns itself around for a second or two but soon reverts. I'm using an iMac with a built in iSight camera if that helps. :hmmm:

Oh, and my image at the other end is fine, apparently - even more annoying.

How old is the mac?

It's about three or four months old.

There is your problem right there. It's out of date and clashing with this seasons ~~protocols~~ colours.

Take it to be serviced by a Mac service agent. They will pretty much just put it aside and do nothing for six weeks, and any time you enquire as to what is happening with your property they'll pretty much do a big sigh and act as if they are somehow doing you some sort of favour by fixing your iProduct, and they will get around to fixing it when they damn well please (certainly not until they've watched Gossip Girl, Ugly Betty and several shows about mid-40s lesbian citydwelling fashionistas.. and that's just the blokes in the Mac office. The girls have to watch those shows AND go for a powerwalk with their spoodles, labradoodles and west highland whites).

Finally, their warehouse where your iproduct is being stored will develop a leaky ceiling and destroy your iproduct, but they won't tell you... they'll wait until you contact THEM and ask about the whereabouts of your property.

Or just put up with it until your iProduct dies completely (ETA 2-3 months) and then buy a PC.

hang on. if you are seeing the other person around the wrong way in skype, how can it be your camera? your camera takes pictures of you. i had an issue in skype where my camera shows me a mirror image of me, but sends a pic the corrct way round to the other person. and that is on an old ibook g4, with a plug in usb camera.

try with you and the other person each holding up a piece of paper with somethign written on it...?

It's so that you don't freak every time you see yourself as the world actually sees you, instead of the way you look in the mirror.

I suppose that's pretty strange, but that's the rationale. You could probably change it with a bit of light coding...
