The Maunga Cycle Challenge 14th November 2010

Postby TheMaungaChallenge on Mon 30/Aug/10 3:38pm

Be part of a growing event! Ride with world-class athletes and enjoy the scenic beauty of Maungatautari Mountain.

Bring the kids and their Bikes n' Trikes for a fun programme in the park organized by Sport Waikato, while you compete in;
-the 100km challenge,
-the Livingstone team event with two other team mates, (and be in to win the Livingstone Trophy and medals!) or,
-the 30km or 12km family fun ride. (Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.)

This year, a team of elite NZ Rowers and top Waikato Cyclists will battle it out in a time race over 100km and then on a rowing machine for supremacy on the day.

Prize giving for the 12km and Bikes n Trikes is at 12.00pm.

The first cycle challenge starts at 10am on Park Road, Te Awamutu (BikeNZ national licence holders in the first wave) with prize giving at 2:15pm on the park.

Everyone riding on the day is also eligible for awesome spot prizes donated by local businesses. There are cash prizes for the 100km Men’s, 100km Women’s, and 100km U17's and winners of the Battle of Champions.

The Event is organised by the Rotary Club of Te Awamutu, the Te Awamutu Sports Cycle Club, and Sport Waikato and is a not-for-profit venture.

$5 from each entry goes to benefit the Maungatautari Ecological Island Trust Classroom with further profits to provide scholarships for young people in the community.

Entry fees are $20-$60 depending on age group and event. ($2 for entry to the Bikes n' Trikes)
Entry forms at bike shops or register online at http://www.themaungachallenge.co.nz or on the day from 8am.
