Bump for tomorrow!

Just got back from setting out the course markings. Thanks to Marco, Hayden Richards (NMR), Bernie Cruise, some other guy (who I have forgotten the name of!) and yours truly for another awesome job setting up the course (El Jefe will still find a way to get lost...).

The Wainui trails are looking awesome (like they always do  ) and I had time for a quick blat down Spoonhill once we'd finished setup. It should be a lot of fun tomorrow and it's actually quite dry out there. If you are worried about the wind, even with signs tied to our backs NMR and I still didn't get blown over! But the majority of the course is under the tree line, so you'll only hear it howling overhead.

So see you all tomorrow morning for another great day out!

Al

p.s. Tomorrow is also talk like a pirate day, so we will make allowances for anyone who wants to mark this special day :satan:

I went for a short ride in Wainui on Wednesday, and even after rain on Tuesday the trails were generally riding nicely.

I've even gone to the extreme of replacing my bald commuter-spec rear tyre! Hardout :o

yes, I can confirm a contractor has done some work as well as a few volunteers, so things are looking fairly good. Unfortunately we may have one more batch of rain before what looks like a nice day for racing...

good luck to all

Such a good day, gutted I missed it! Had a foolishly late night then woke up with hoo-er of a sore throat.

Oh! Missing one race won't forfeit my entry into the Santa Cruz Nickel draw will it?? Huh?? :butbut:

No, you are still eligible. You get 10 entries if you entered the entire series or 1 entry per round that you enter.

The only people who have entered and aren't eligible are the race directors, Marco and I...

hey Al,

Just wondering how the timing works as in the last 2 races there were neutralized areas back to the schools. Are we timed back to the school even though we arent meant to race each other on the last sections on the road or how does it work?

Allow me to answer as Al is probably wading through hundreds of post race emails..
Your placing is neutralised at the crossing, ie no passing , but your actual time is back to the school.

What he said (and yes, I am getting emails on the results already... )

The problem was people were hanging round the finish area which makes it harder on the timers. That can only make them more likely to make mistakes, but we have a back up system so all will be cleared up soon.

From the next round we will set up a slightly better finish shute process and people who hang round and get in the way will be sent round for another lap

Great to see Hannah on top of the podium there. Bet she's happy. Well done! :)

Thanks - yeah, having spent last year following Caitlin's rear tyre, she was pretty chuffed to be back in the dominant position! Race report here - http://hannahbarnesracing.blogspot.com/. They're going to do Ash's Women of Dirt together on 6 Nov.

Sorry not see you there. In fact little Daniel must be nearly old as some of the other kids who were riding around there today.
