Tax Cuts and GST up, thoughts. Personally I'm happy

GST up on 1 October. Time for a pre GST spend up. It's a good time to build a house I think

With health taking a huge cut you might want to put that tax cut towards health insurance.

is there anyone out there who DOESN'T have health insurance - the waiting lists for surgery have been too long to go without for years

How does "An extra $2.1 billion for health over the next four years" [stuff.co.nz] equate to a cut in health?

This is a good tool. It shows how if you save/pay mortgage you are better off because you don't pay GST on these items

Start growing your own food, get friendly with farmers for meat, take up bartering for goods and see how much you can save.

It covers inflation and population growth but not the general increase in healthcare costs.
