80's 10 Speed/older Parts?

Postby Locust on Thu 13/May/10 11:18am

Does anyone know where you can buy old cycle parts? I've recently bought a circa 1980's Ladies Healing Skylark which rides well and I want to do up to look a bit older, not necessarily original parts for a skylark - I'm after some full length chrome/alloy mudguards, a chainguard, chrome levers (it has upright nanna handlebars) and a carrier. My final accessory will be a basket with a baguette in it....

I can get all these parts by buying an old bike on trademe but it seems wrong to strip original parts off an older bike that could be restored in full, I know i could just restore an old one myself but the thought of riding to work on a heavy old steel 3 speed in Wellington does not fill me with joy.... Ideas anyone?

Is that Around Again cycles? I've been meaning to stick my head in there sometime & see if they have any old 10 speed frames lying around on which to attach the pile of old parts in my shed.

that would indeed be the one. havent been in for a year or two, but they had heeaaps of shit around, and tonnes out the back etc...

however, a friend's bike was nicked one time and turned up in there with a $300 price tag on about half an hour later... :hmmm:
