Is This Worth $4.5million?

Postby tuscanv6 on Tue 4/May/10 3:53pm

Anyone remember when angorra goats were priced through the stratosphere?
Seems cars are reaching the same premium even as Greece's economy crumbles and Telecom lays of heaps of staff: http://www.classiccar.co.nz/news-7900/m ... ion-record
Sure, it's beautiful and all that, but at 4.5 mil it's an expensive ornament. Unless you're gonna race it and risk a prang. In which case you might still end up with an expensive ornament, albeit slightly less beautiful

I should have saved my old Haro BMX from the 80s. It might have a similar level of appreciation by 2030!

It sure is worth $4.5 million. Every cent of it actually. If it wasn't worth it then the guy who bought it wouldn't have paid the price.

It might seem a shitload of money to most but to some it's chump change.

Anything is only worth what someone will pay. If it sells then I guess someone thought so.

Should definitely be raced though. Rubbish if it just went and sat in a garage for the rest of its life.

If you think about what else you might do with 4.5 mill then probably not.

But the person who pays that sort of money already has 10 of all those things you thought of... and way nicer ones than what you wanted too.

Actually it is pretty good value. Considering punters who buy new supercars lose on average $30,000 each month that old Mazza is a sound investment. Ferrari 250 GTO's are always going for scary money(US$28,500,000) when people see the markets shaking so €2,500,000 on that in a tax haven like Monaco is better than money in the bank.

You'd like to think the buyer had a real sentimental reason for owning and driving it, rather than it being an ego extension of an ignorant twat with too much money.
