Dawn 2 Dusk - Gravity Endurance Event

Postby DHDave on Mon 3/May/10 2:30pm

SATURDAY 19th JUNE 2010 (0700 -1700)

Dawn to Dusk (D2D) is a gravity assisted endurance event aimed at taking the pain and uphill out of endurance events.

This event is a fund raiser for the Rotorua downhill development team and any profits made go towards the running and expenses of the team.

This year we have built onto the success of last year’s event and tweaked and twisted a few things to make it more enjoyable for riders.

The format will be the almost the same with each team having to complete a minimum of 2 runs on the Corners, Jumps and Downhill tracks + 1 run down Billy T (G Rock – Chestnut – Rollercoaster and the initial part of Chinese menu).

This year the event will be on Saturday allowing riders to chill out or ride again on Sunday!

Registration will be available on Friday the 18th from 1.00pm till 9.00pm, taking place at KIWI BIKES next to Zippy’s on Pukuatua Street.

Registration will also be available on the day from 0600hrs - Saturday 19th at the back gate till 0700 and from Race HQ then onwards.

TEAMS:

Entries allow for solo, 2 person, 3, 4 & 5 person teams – it’s all about fun.

The event is limited to 150 entries.

It will commence on the Saturday the 19th from 0615hrs at the back gate.

1 number plate will be issued per team and this will have to stay with the rider/bike that is recording the lap.

0645 - the 1st trucks will leave the back gate area and travel to the start area. Riders can leave from the top as soon as the truck has stopped.

Riders can take any route down, all lines will be open - the only ones taped will be for safety reasons, i.e. where tracks meet or merge.

The finish line is at the event village which is at the bottom of the DH track. There will be an open transition area (off the main line) where riders/plates change over.

Rides will then pass through the timing tent where the lap will be recorded.

The queue (if there is a queue) for transport will be single file and the ‘load marshal’ will control this area.

He will decide a load order and guide riders to specific vehicles.

There should be no wait or should I say no queue to get on transport - worst case, 7 minute wait.

Safety gears - this is not classified as DH race, it is a Gravity Endurance Event and participation is the key. Hence the mandatory ruling of full face and armour is not in effect - as stated on the entry form"
‘Each rider is responsible for their bikes maintenance and all safety equipment.’
As always - the bike in front has right of way, if there is a faster rider coming from behind it is his duty to wait and pass where it is safe for both riders or take another line.

Lights may be an option for a 1st / last quick run - depends on the day light!

If you have any questions or queries, please contact me.

Also if you have a friend or partner willing to help out, again, please contact me.

Entry forms are available from the Rotorua MTB Club website or enter online at the same place.

See you there!
