Bmx Sizing.....

Postby wuffy on Sun 21/Mar/10 9:54pm

I'm a tad under but pretty much 6 foot, and looking at getting a BMX, what size would I be wanting to get? I've got no idea right now, also would I want 20 or 24 inch? Note its a track BMX not freestyle or street.

Cheers, :)

Be very careful, Wuffy - almost everyone I've ever known with a BMX bike has had an arm or two amputated at some time or other!

20" is more fun but 24" is easier to ride. For you a standard race cruiser will be fine or a 21 to 21.5" TT 20"bike. Dont go to long as they become hard to ride.

24" is easier to learn on but I feel that the 20" does most things better on tracks. My race times are the same on both bikes.

I also have one of each for sale. ;)

Yup between 21 and 21.5" will be sweet, if you plan on racing, go 20" wheels as its a bigger class so you actually have some competition. Otherwise 24" is easier to get used to if you're changing between MTB and BMX a lot.

I would actually say that if you are over 30 the super cruiser class is the one to be in.
