because drive manufacturers have let their marketing departments define "terabyte "megabytes" etc as base 10 numbers I mean multiples of 10, eg they call one megabyte 1000k instead of 1024 or whatever it really is. extrapolate that up to terabyte and you have a whole heap of missing numbers.
