This guy broke his leg after a crash at the Nurburging and went into the science behind it as he was perplexed why a test of normal vs Nitrogen failed to show why others did it.

here

But the simpler solution he failed to realise is to have your tyres fitted at your local tyre shop, wait for a few months for the 'air' to leach out leaving just the Nitrogen and just top up and adjust your tyres with 100% pure Nitrogen which will stay as stable as a F1 car.

A friend of mine has nitrogen filled tiers, and says they never need pumping up. but the tyers on my car need pumping up more often and go down below 78% (~66%) pressure if i am slack or forgetful?

anyone else have anecdotal evidence with nitrogen tiers?

The best advert that Taxi drivers can have to get their passengers to belt up. Just get this printed on the back of their headrest..

I was returning from a conference in Florida, taking a fairly beaten up old cab to Orlando airport. Now, I had just jumped in the back at not bothered with my seat belt. Half way to the airport the skies just opened and torrential rain started coming down. Sadly, the windscreen wipers on this old cab cleaned only a tiny corner of the windscreen. I could see practically nothing in front of my cab that was still barreling down the freeway at 100kph. The taxi driver then proceeded to take off his own seat belt so he could prop himself up and peer though the little porthole of clear windscreen. That was the moment I decided it would be a good idea to put on my seat belt. The rain stopped almost as suddenly as it had started and I made it to the airport without incident but whenever I get in the back of a cab now, the first thing I do is put on my seat belt.

I was also under the impression that the main benefit of nitrogen was that it's less conductive of heat than air. So when used in extreme circumstances (aircraft tyres, trucks, race cars) you won't get such a dramatic change in pressure as the tyre warms from cold to hot.

Nine hours into 24 hour race at Daytona

The Giz has got his car up to the lead in class, but his co-drivers do appear to be as quick as him

Having lead the first few hours with Scott Dixon at the wheel, the car is now in 4th

Brendon Hartley car is laps down in 8th

Earl Bamder is there too, but haven't sussed his car year.
