had an emotional car moment yesterday. I've been helping build an E30 race car since late July (following a huge crash that wrote of his other one in May). We finished the car this week and my mate took it for it's maiden race meeting yesterday, and managed to score his first race win in NZ! (He's South African).

It was pretty awesome to be involved in a race car build from scratch, and even better to see hard work paying off!

Now, about that Starlet rebuild... ;)

Hmm, no it's not quite like that sadly.

I finally started getting the ball rolling on fixing the KP the other day. Plan was replacing the f*cked VF38 with a TD05H, and was hoping to get away with just cutting & re welding new flanges into the manifold but that aint' gonna work. Manifold ports are round, TD05 ports are square. No off the shelf manifold option for 4AGZE to TD05, so custom job it is. FFFUUUU

But seriously, cheers for the recommendation, might hafta get a quote. Am back to the drawing board a little bit now, but will keep all options open. Ah the joys of owning/running/fixing a race car on a tiny budget...

Oh and for the record, it's this E30 I helped build:

No rollcage, three point seatbelts, stock seats. That'll end well.

120kph through to 240 in 5 sec or so? not bloody likely,
or how the rev counter needle stops swinging, but the speedo climbs another 20-30kph?
