your feedback made it clear that he didn't just create a blog. He gave the mountain biking community in particular, and sporty folk in general a place on the internet to hang out together, have some fun, rant a bit, organise rides and so on. It's a huge effort that went into it, and when you read Tama's quasi-autobiography (i.e. his retirement blurb) carefully, you'll realise that he's put a lot of hard work into this, as well as a lot of his own cash. He certainly didn't earn a decent living from being a fulltime Vorb administrator.Tama has been recognised personally through winning the inaugural 'Cycle Champion of the Year' category at the 2007 Cycle Friendly Awards (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cycle_Friendly_Awards). In addition, Vorb has won a stack of awards, some of which are listed on the about page. I thought it appropriate that he gets acknowledged in an additional way and have thus set up a Wikipedia page about him: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tama_Easton
As you may know, everybody can edit Wikipedia, but there's a significant difference between WP and Vorb. Whereas on Vorb, anything goes (well, almost anything), WP is an encyclopaedia. What that means is that if you add things, you'll have to provide references to the source of the information. Unreferenced material often gets removed quite quickly, especially on pages about living people. If you've got additional material that you'd like to see added (plus have the references), but don't know how to go about it and can't be asked finding out by reading up, I suggest post it here and somebody with knowledge on WP processes will no doubt take care of it.
One significant omission so far is the lack of a portrait photo. If you have one that you have the copyright of, could you please upload it to Wikimedia Commons: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Upload If you have a suitable photo, but don't know how Commons works, please PM me and I'll give you a hand (sorry, can't upload it for you - it has to be done by the person who holds the copyright). When done, post a message here and somebody will put it into place.
So from me, my thanks to Tama for what you've done for the cycling community.
I hope your leg get better real soon. May there be tons of singletrack ahead of you.
