Headlamp For Running

Postby the_1006 on Sun 4/Oct/09 9:06pm

Hi

Your suggestions appreciated. I am looking to buy a good headlamp with head strap attachment. Something that will give enough light to see the track, at least ~90 mins battery life, not too heavy on the head and neck and not super expensive. Oh and available in NZ...

Cheers

something like this.

Otherwise try your local adventure sports store and have a gander at what they stock. :)

Have a look at this discussion http://www.vorb.org.nz/running-lights-t97792.html from a bit back.

For weight and its small size i use the Petzl Zipka Plus. Wrap it around my wrist when it's not needed and it's more than enough for trails, pricey though. There's a lot of good lights out there for running. Everyone here will have good recommendations.

I have a headstrap for my ayup lights, although the price of entry may be a little prohibitive if you don;t already have a full set for biking.

Lenser make some very light and powerful headlights. I use the H7R which retails for about $120. It is about 300 lumens. A Zipka by comparison - from memory is about 80 lumens so the Lenser is very bright and allows you to change the beam width and intensity.

I'm loving my Mammut TX Lite - very light to wear, great light output and duration + not too expensive (from Mountain Designs on sale for about $50).
