Rad To The Power Of Sick

Postby NoEsc on Sun 27/Sep/09 8:59pm

I spent the afternoon with some of the trail builders who have been working on 'Rad to the power of Sick' to see their progress over the last year. They took some well deserved time from digging to enjoy some their hard work.

Hey Richie that trail looks rad to the power of sick. Some parts of it even look sick to the power of rad. Makes me want to go riding immediately although your video leaves me strangely neutral about trying a 360.

Yep, Christchurch it is. Vic park to be more specific. Thanks Zac we are pretty proud of it. It was kind of difficult to use as much of the hill as possible but still have good flow without too much pedaling or braking, but I think we got the balance right in the end after a lot of tweaking. It normally takes most people a few runs before they can get it fully dialed in where it flows nicely though, so it does present a challenge in that way. And as you can see from the vid it can be ridden on anything from a jump bike to a trail bike to dh with no problems.

It's worth noting that this track was built with the permission and support of the park rangers (lots of tools, clay, chain sawing and box drains), and that we would not have been able to build a track like this without their support. Special thanks to Nick Singleton and Murray.

Also after discussion with Nick Singleton we will be extending the track up the hill so keep an eye out for more jump trail goodness in the coming months. However Nick Sutcliffe is leaving us for Chile this week so not sure how fast progress will be without him. On that note volunteers are always welcome so if you want to come and help just drop in on a Saturday morning or Monday evening and there is a very good chance we will be there toiling away.

Cheers
