Clearly that indicates that steel is an over engineered solution. Any race engineer will tell you that ideally a part should be designed to fail just as it crosses the finishline. :p

I often want to santucci when I have to ride home into a headwind (what is it about the headwinds in Chch? I swear they're worse than anywhere else in the world :hmmm: )

I take it you've not ridden in Wellington then? Headwind, funelled through buildings (ours are more then 4 storeys), and then ride up a hill as well!

Madness I tell ya.

I have ridden in both, there is something about chch head winds that is worse, because they are not gusty they don't seam as strong but they are so persistent it is a killa. but wellington does have the hills but at least they can't be up hill both ways.

I've ridden plenty in Wellington (and in many other places around the world) :)

But as philstar says
there is something about chch head winds that is worse, because they are not gusty they don't seam as strong but they are so persistent it is a killa.

I had a big tailwind on the way to work this morning. Left late, got to the station early. Was awesome!

This X10.

Bowen St can be absolutely gnarly. I even had to drop a gear pedalling down it the other day as the headwind coming up it was just nuts

I've come to a stop on a downhill before, and had to get off my bike because it felt like the wind was pulling the air out of my lungs and I couldn't breathe.

Go Christchurch.

Has halved but now pissing down with rain according to Metservice. Still on te train.

amb236 wrote:I take it you've not ridden in Wellington then?

There's a few gusty spots around the station but find riding in Wellington easy. Wind sucks more on wide open long roads, it's just sucks all your energy.....

Velocipetit has been chucking a Santucci when it's time to sleep the last few days.
Doesn't take too many of those before I'm ready to Santucci pretty hard myself.
